It might be the fact that I’m in (and those closest to me) a pretty significant period of transition that has me savoring nostalgic moments and carving out more time for quiet introspection. And it’s likely why I found this article on the Portuguese word saudade so interesting. There is no direct equivalent in English but it describes the feeling or sensation of something lost, be it a person, place, sound, taste, smell — a feeling. The Brazilian writer Osvaldo Orico described Brazilian saudade as ‘more happy than sad, more imagination than pain … a saudade that does not cry, but sings’. I don’t necessarily think of saudade as wholly a feeling of melancholy either. When we are in the grips of this undefinable word, it is being revealed what is most important to us and what, ultimately, defines who we are. I think it’s fascinating that a word can encapsulate the complex and constant state of flux that is life and be translated in so many ways cross-culturally.

Viva! As a proud Mexicana, it’s not a shocker that this is one of my favorite links for May. This British Vogue article highlights the latest Dior Cruise collection show that took place in the culturally rich Mexico City. Held at The Colegio de San Ildefonso, the event showcased an enchanting fusion of Mexican culture and Dior's renowned elegance. From the stunning craftsmanship of the garments to the breathtaking set design, every detail was meticulously curated to celebrate the beauty and heritage of Mexico. The collection itself embraced vibrant colors, intricate embroidery, and traditional Mexican motifs, all paying homage to the country's rich artistic traditions.

A visit to The Cook's Atelier in Beaune (in France's Burgundy region), a cooking school and shop founded by an American mother-daughter duo, is on my bucket list. For now, this delicious recipe for buttery Madeleines will have to make do.
Curbed - How Much Does it Cost to Live LIke This?
I'm a real estate junkie and love to keep up with Curbed, the online pub recently calculated "how much does it cost to live like this?" in NYC - the most expensive city in the world. Turns out that Brooklyn brownstone lifestyle we so often see in movies, comes at a (whopping) annual price tag of $712,329!
