Leading boutique lifestyle PR, marketing and social media firm, Bay Bird Inc, has an immediate opening for a Publicity Assistant position in our San Diego, California office with a hybrid, work-from-home and in-office schedule.
This exceptional communications rock star will be responsible for assisting our team members on a range of exciting lifestyle accounts with a concentrated focus on our award-winning restaurant and craft beverage client portfolio.
Job Brief: This entry level position supports the PR team with various administrative tasks and assists in the development and execution of PR plans and strategies. Demonstrates experience in communications and journalism either at the college, agency, or media outlet level. The job function of the Publicity Assistant is to assist in the smooth running of daily operations and success of the overall marketing/PR efforts.
Responsibilities will likely include:
Researches and maintains calendars (editorial, events, etc.) and media lists
Participates in internal brainstorming and planning sessions
Liaises with clients as instructed by team
Assists in the organization and execution of client events, campaigns, digital marketing, etc.
Conducts research to support PR planning
Assists with drafting and distributing content such as newsletters, press releases, social media calendars
Edits videos and presentations and assists with light graphic design projects
Assists with the creation of creative social media content and schedules accordingly
Captures compelling imagery to be utilized on clients’ social media feeds, as well as Bay Bird’s own personal feeds
Supports relations with stakeholders, media, vendors etc.
Assists in tracking media coverage or PR metrics (e.g. Google analytics, SM reports, media clipping)
Undertakes general administrative and clerical duties
Assists/undertakes other duties as assigned by leadership
Understands and assists in the overall organization of systemwide management and reporting platforms (i.e., OneDrive, Cision, Asana, Later, etc.)
Is punctual, adheres to deadlines, manages time appropriately and knows how to prioritize action items accordingly
Assists with the operation of Bay Bird’s Internship Program
Qualifications:
Our ideal candidate should be an extremely creative, proactive PR professional with a proven track record of assisting with all facets of lifestyle public relations through internships and/or other related entry-level experiences. Our next team member should possess all of the following qualifications:
A minimum of 1 year of demonstrated relevant experience through internships and/or relatable hands-on experience working with clients in the culinary/restaurant, craft beverage, health/wellness, sustainable agriculture advocacy, and/or consumer lifestyle arenas – either with an agency or in-house communications position
A deep passion and understanding of food and the inherent culture of food
An outstanding grasp of the written and spoken word
Experience working directly with media on a local, regional and national level (producers, influencers, editors, freelance writers, and reporters)
Must be a strong communicator, able to support story angles with relevant, engaging pitch material, including tying in story lines with select social media platforms that will be managed in-house
Able to develop social media content to correspond with a client’s in-house sales and brand messaging as needed
The candidate must be an excellent storyteller throughout every online and offline engagement opportunity
Possess a vibrant personality and be inherently clued into the trends and culture of now – a rock star
Compensation: Commensurate with experience
