Bay Bird Inc, a nationally-recognized, boutique lifestyle public relations firm headquartered in San Diego, California, has an immediate opening for a part-time social media coordinator (20-25 hours/week) with the potential to become full-time. Established in 2008, Bay Bird Inc is seeking the right candidate to assist us in meeting the growing digital demands of our award-winning client portfolio. We are looking for an enthusiastic, creative leader who understands the digital and social media landscape and constantly strives to keep up with the latest trends. This entry-level position supports the agency founder and director with various administrative tasks related to digital marketing and social media management and assists in the development and execution of social content plans and strategies. This includes the development of social media reports, tracking and optimizing social content and ad campaigns, community management, and trend monitoring. Must have demonstrated experience in communications and journalism either at the college, agency, or media outlet level. The job function of the Social Media Coordinator is to assist in the smooth running of daily operations and success of the agency’s overall digital marketing efforts. 

Above all, we are looking for someone who has a great eye for design and possesses sharp copywriting skills with the ability to craft tone-appropriate copy individualized for each client/audience.

Social Media Coordinator, San Diego

SOCIAL MEDIA

  • Assists in the creative direction of the company’s social media strategy on IG (feed and stories), Facebook, LinkedIn, blog, etc.

  • Coordinates diverse monthly social media content for clients on Facebook and Instagram

  • Crafts authentic copy with a voice and tone that uniquely reflects each individual client

  • Liaises with clients to schedule social media photoshoots to capture original imagery

  • Pulls select user-generated imagery to encourage consumer engagement

  • Utilizes Canva and Photoshop to create design-focused promotional pieces for upcoming events and activations

  • Crafts original Instagram stories utilizing innovative techniques and practices

  • Analyzes client audience, competitors, market and trends to define digital strategies for each platform

  • Use insights to ensure the success of social media campaigns and create reports to track social media progress

  • Understands the basics of photography: composition and lighting

  • Posts and manages content manually 

  • Schedules content accordingly utilizing Later for all applicable clients

  • Engages on all social media accounts regularly

    • Responds to customer inquiries across all platforms

  • Provides insights to clients regarding engagement, reach and impressions

  • Coordinates paid media campaigns (as needed), specifically on Facebook and Instagram

  • Stays up-to-date regarding emerging social media trends and platforms

  • Connects with agency founder and director for additional input

DIGITAL MARKETING
Assists in the management of email marketing for Bay Bird Inc clients (as necessary):

  • Provides copy and select imagery for monthly newsletter (or target send rate)

  • Utilizes marketing platforms ranging from Mailchimp, MyEmma and SquareSpace email client

  • Provides insights to clients regarding open rate and best practices

  • Manages subscriber lists for relevant clients

Assists in the coordination of targeted influencer campaigns focused on each client’s individual needs:

  • Proactive in developing and nurturing relationships with local, regional and national influencers

    •  Contributes to growing BBI’s database of influencers

    • Researches key influencers that align with specific campaigns and budgets

    • Crafts original outreach

    • Manages all responses and resulting social media content shared by influencers

Our ideal candidate should be an extremely creative, social media marketing professional with a proven track record of assisting with all facets of social media and will possess all of the following qualifications:

  • A minimum of 1-2 years of relevant experience inclusive of internships working assisting with the social media marketing efforts of clients in the travel/hospitality, culinary/restaurant, craft beverage, health/wellness, and consumer lifestyle arenas – either with an agency or in-house position

  • Bachelor's or related degree in Communications, English, Public Relations, Marketing, Social Media Marketing and/or Digital Marketing

  • Knowledge of the ever-evolving social media landscape including: influencers, platform identification and usage and timely knowledge of trends (you live and breathe this stuff)

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, cursory knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop) and Squarespace

  • Knowledge of analytics, project management and research software including: Later, Google Analytics, Google Apps/Drive, Canva, One Drive, etc.

  • Proven creative writing capabilities for a variety of platforms with examples to support

  • Possesses strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills

  • Has an eye for capturing compelling imagery, either with an iPhone or DSLR camera

  • Possesses a keen interest in all things lifestyle, specifically: hospitality, culinary, craft beverage, design, and retail industries

  • Possess a vibrant personality and be inherently clued-in to the trends and culture of now – a rock star
