Sassy City Chicks Bay Bird Inc PR 2010 1

Combine fabulous fashion finds with a Southern California hot spot and you have a recipe for success…or disaster, depending on how you look at it. Sassy City Chicks’ samples sales have been around for 9 years and Bay Bird Inc PR was thrilled to help promote their latest event at the Hard Rock Hotel San Diego’s open-air lounge, FLOAT. We scored a buttery leather purse and a pair of hand-made earrings from Jennifer Jones – at a fraction of their original retail price. Success was absolutely the victor in our book. We think over 600+ shoppers would agree.

A Publicist’s Uniform?

A Publicist’s Uniform?

Ashley and I came to work today with the exact same outfit on. Again. This time: Black shirt, skinny jeans and Tory Burch black flats. The unplanned and uncanny coincidence got me thinking about the subject after having just had a conversation with my LA-based Publicist friend over the weekend.

Is there a dress code for Publicists? A treadmill of tailored threads documented in 140 characters or less? No doubt most people connote the term ‘Publicist’ with airborne glitz and glamour driven by a Louboutin-clad mediamatrix with the de rigueur high-tech gear in tow. And while I do confess obsession with all things sartorial and the occasional vapid read of the latest pop rag, the day to day life of a Publicist reads more like a juggling act – on a tight rope – with no net – in the latest GO designer duds from Target – rather than a restful repose in the cushy front row at New York Fashion Week.

That said, glam or not, I can usually spot a Publicist from a mile away. He/She is usually the one wearing all of the hats.
